Goldsmith, James Michael 1933 - . Franco-British entrepreneur, one of the UK's wealthiest people. Early in his career he built up a grocery empire, Cavenham Foods; he went on to become the owner of several industrial, commercial (he was cofounder of Mothercare), and financial enterprises. His magazine Now!, launched 1979, closed two years later. Knighted 1976. He became a director of the Daily Telegraph 1990.
